Then both of you are going to have to make a choice. If you are one who doesn't believe stability and keeping the work flowing is much more important than split view, new safari features, and an improved notes app. Logic X even has some graphic, score editor, and other issues with El Capitan. What's the hurry? There isn't one piece of software or hardware that works only on El Capitan. I just upgraded to Yosemite on my home rig two weeks ago. The facilities I work at have barely gotten to Yosemite.
#Yamaha usb midi driver mac 10.11.1 upgrade
There is no reason for anyone with a working stable system to upgrade the o/s the first day it comes out. and others who say to wait until they test the Final. Waiting for upgrades is life if you want to use Avid, Steinberg, UA, NI, MOTU, etc.

Wall2Wall, and what if in the future Avid tells us not to upgrade ever again or not to buy any Apple system ever again? We pay them and they must follow our system's upgrades with new drivers for the hardware they release for OS X!!! And must I accept Avid to force me wait 4-5 months to use an OS X that will be out for less than 12? Fast Track Ultra, USB etc.)Īnd thanks aesc for make me trying with your steps, you saved me! I hope my experience could help someone (maybe with another device e.g.

This is the weird thing! And the second one for me is that following these steps you'll use not the last version of the driver but the version before (because when you install, the kext file in s/l/e is the version earlier)ĭunno why but for me this workaround waiting for the official support and fix by M-Audio is ok. You should be able to enable Fast Track Pro!!! This was driving me crazy.īUT, if you go back and click on System Preferences-> Sound Then, after rebooting if you go to System Preferences-> M-Audio Fast Track Pro you should see "device not connected". type "sudo chown -R root:wheel copiedkextname.kext" and hit enter one more time type "sudo chmod -R 755 copiedkextname.kext" and hit enter again.ħ. type "cd Library/Extensions" and hit enter.Ħ.

2/3 seconds later a popup should appear saying the kext file has not loaded correctly (or something similar) If it appears, ignore it.ĥ. Copy the last version installed from s/l/e to l/e as aesc said. Always dunno why, probably something has changed during these years in OSX.
#Yamaha usb midi driver mac 10.11.1 install
Trying to install and looking inside 1.9.3 i saw that the installer installs the kext file ONLY inside s/l/e. The one inside l/e is the version you have downloaded from the site (in this case 1.9.5) and the one inside s/l/e is the version before. Installed the last version of my Fast track available on Avid's website (for me it's 1.9.5).Īs aesc said, the first weird thing for me was that looking inside the pkg file with Pacifist i saw that the installer (since around 1.9.3 or 1.9.4 i don't remember exactly) installs two version of the kext. I also tried copying the signed one so that it was in both S/L/E & /L/E so both were loaded but I still got no soundįollowing the instruction written by aesc i made my Fast Track Pro finally working on El Capitan (i was freaking out without it). The reason why many drivers are not working anymore:Īpple extended the "kext signing" to drivers and only drivers from trusted sources are loaded by the El Capitan kernel, no bypass option here (like for applications in the control panel). The 1.9.5 (Fast_Track_Pro_Driver_1_9_5_Mac_83635.dmg) installer installs two different kexts:īundle ID: .driver Im not sure if its just that both drivers have to be the same in each folder, can't tell you what version will definitely work, but I downloaded latest from avid if you have no idea what I'm talking about apparently even works without setting kext permissions. You may not have a driver to replace in /Library/Extensionsģrd weird thing. I guess it must be old driver install left it in there. It seems I had old version of the driver in /Library/Extensions, which is the second weird thing because the latest installer doesn't put anything there.

Before one was loaded and one was not, but there was version mismatch.

System/Library/Extensions (Backup first!)įirst weird thing is that System Information > Software > Extensions shows that I have two kexts both unsigned and apparently unloaded.
